ANN KRISTIN SCHMITZ, M.D.
Clinical Scientist
Since my medical studies I am fascinated by the human brain. In clinical everyday life I have the opportunity to study this organ intensively and to visualize its structures live during brain surgery. My scientific interest is to better understand the functions of the brain beyond mere anatomy. Modern neuro-imaging can help us to identify pathologies, establish connections and ultimately offers the possibility to support the clinician in pre-, intra- and post-operative procedures. I see translational medicine as an important link for scientists, physicians and patients and I am very happy to contribute.
