MRI is a remarkable tool for studying the human brain, but it comes with one limitation: real life rarely happens while lying motionless inside a scanner. This November, our PhD candidate Jorge Valdez will explore wearable approaches to neuroimaging at the NeurotechEU Hackathon “Wearable Neurotechnology: fNIRS and EEG” at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. His participation is supported by an Erasmus+ mobility grant. At the Translational Neuroimaging Lab, Jorge’s research...

Each year, the German Society of Neuroradiology (DGNR) hosts its annual meeting neuRAD, bringing together the neuroradiology community for clinical, scientific and technological exchange. The 2026 meeting took place from 7 to 9 October in Mainz. Besides the main affiliation with the Department of Neuroradiology, it is also affiliated with the Department of Epileptology. Therefore, neuRAD offered a great opportunity to bring these two perspectives together and to represent the...

What began with musicians being scanned shortly before a concert has now developed into Noten und Neuronen – Music for Brain Health, a nationwide series of six science concerts bringing music and neuroscience to major concert halls across Germany. The series opened on July 10, 2026, at the Cologne Philharmonic. The Bläck Fööss, musicians from the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the UKB Choir and...
